What can you do to show your child that you love and care for them?

You can express your affections for your child through your words and actions, even when there are no special occasions or reasons. Some ways to do so include:

Responding consistently to them in a warm, loving, supportive, and respectful manner
Giving them regular physical affection such as smiles, hugs, pats, or high fives
Providing them with words of encouragement and praise*
*Older children might appreciate you praising them in private, rather than in front of their friends
Showing them concern during hard times by letting them know you are there to listen and support them
Helping them through acts of service (e.g. filling their water bottle when they are in a rush)
Making time every day to spend quality time together (e.g. listening and talking with them)
